ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must meet the following criteria when applying for the GENM scholarship:
  • Malaysian citizen aged 23 years and below.
  • Must be waiting for admission or already admitted to pursue a full-time degree course in a local or overseas university.
  • Applicants currently in their first or second year of undergraduate studies may apply.
  • Applicants must achieve the following academic results:
    • (A) Either one of the following pre-university qualifications:
    1. STPM: minimum 3 As, or
    2. Matriculation/Diploma: CGPA 3.5 or above, or
    3. A-Level: minimum 3 As, or
    4. Australian TER: minimum 90.0, or
    5. Recognized foundation/pre-university courses: equivalent to CGPA 3.5 or above, or
    6. International Baccalaureate: minimum 36.0
    •  (B) Current 1st or 2nd year university students must have CGPA of 3.5 or above.
  • Strong leadership skills demonstrated through active participation in extra-curricular activities.
  • Family household income not exceeding RM 5,000.00 per month.
  • Presently not holding other scholarships or study loans.
Note: Relevant work experience, co-curricular activities, professional qualifications, and achievements, where applicable, are added advantages.

  1. Local public universities – Tier 4 & 5 as in SETARA Listing,
  2. Local private universities – Tier 5 as in SETARA Listing,
  3. Overseas universities as listed in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds Top 100 Universities listing. 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
  1. All scholarship applications and supporting documents must be submitted via the online submission system before the closing date. Closing date: 24 March 2012. 
  2. All required fields (i.e. personal particulars, information on courses applied, particulars of parent/guardian, education background, etc.) must be completed. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
  3. Applicants must submit the following supporting documents together with their application form:
    • Passport-sized photograph
    • Education certificates (STPM/A-Level and/or Diploma certificates, university acceptance/offer letter, etc.)
    • Updated résumé - including applicant's co-curricular/extra-curricular activities, achievements and certificates
    • Parent's/Guardian's Income Tax J-Form
    • One (1) page PowerPoint summary of yourself, illustrating your personal profile, aspirations, academic background, and any other relevant facts.
  • All attached documents should not exceed 6MB in file size and each attachment’s size is limited to 500KB. You will not be able to submit your application if the total file size exceeds 6MB or if any of the attachment’s size exceeds 500KB. Please reduce your attachment’s size before submission.

THE STAR EDUCATION FUND (EDUFUND) : SCHOLARSHIP AWARD 2012 TIER 2

SUMMARY 
The Malaysian Association of Private Colleges & Universities (MAPCU) in collaboration with the Sun will be awarding RM3.7 million worth of scholarships. The scholarships will support tuition fee for courses at participating universities and colleges.

ELIGIBILITY
  • be Malaysian citizens of not more than 25 years of age as at 1st January 2012.
  • have excelled in extra-curricular activities & active in sports.
  • not be bonded to or in receipt of any financial aid or awards from other educational institutions or organizations.
  • for Foundation / Diploma courses, applicants must possess reasonably good results in the SPM / UEC or equivalent.
  • for the Higher and Advanced Diploma / Degree courses, applicants must possess reasonably good results in the STPM / A-Level / UEC or equivalent.

AJINOMOTO POST-GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP 2013

SUMMARY
This program enables students from five ASEAN countries (Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam) wishing to enroll in a master’s course (major in one of the sciences) at the University of Tokyo, to secure scholarships before their arrival in Japan. It aims to cultivate individuals capable of leading Asia in the twenty-first century and to contribute to the development of Asia and the world as well as to mutual understanding between these countries and Japan.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants who wish to enroll in a master’s course and major in one of the sciences (except medicine and veterinary medicine) at the University of Tokyo and who fulfill the following requirements and qualifications:
  1. Applicants must be citizens of Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, or Vietnam.
  2. Applicants must have graduated or be expected to graduate with an excellent academic record (with 16 years of education completed or expected to be completed) and must receive the recommendation from their university president or academic adviser or be qualified to enroll in the University of Tokyo.
  3. Applicants must be under the age of 35 on April 1, 2013.
  4. In principle, the applicant must be able to obtain approval of acceptance as a Postgraduate International Research Student (hereinafter “Research Student”), from the University of Tokyo and be registered as a Research Student for April 2013 or October 2013. However, the applicant may enroll directly as a master’s course student of some graduate schools in the University of Tokyo. In that case, the applicant must be able to obtain approval of enrollment from the University of Tokyo and be registered as a master’s course student for Apr 2013 or Oct 2013.
  5. Applicants must acquire adequate Japanese language proficiency that is required in order to research and study in a master’s course, when enrolling as a master’s course student of the University of Tokyo.
  6. Applicants must apply from the above 5 countries and be able to attend selection procedures when necessary.
  7. Applicants must be in good physical and mental health and have a strong motivation for learning.
  8. Applicants must not be receiving other scholarships.

FIELDS OF STUDY

Applicants who wish to enroll in a master’s course and major in one of the sciences (except medicine and veterinary medicine) at the University of Tokyo

SCHOLARSHIP VALUE
  • Research Student at graduate school: ¥150,000/month (for max. 1 year)
  • Master’s course at graduate school: ¥180,000/month (for max. 2 years)
  • Examination, Admission and Tuition fees: covered in full
  • Airfare (to and from Japan): covered up approximately to ¥200,000 (equivalent amount for economy class ticket. Actual amount in principle)
Scholarships will be provided for max. 3 years, 1 year studying as a Research Student and max. 2 years studying in a master’s course. The scholarship will be suspended if the scholarship beneficiary fails to pass the entrance exam for a master’s course within a year after arriving to Japan if the recipient enters as a Research Student.
If the recipient enters as a master’s course student, scholarships will be provided for max. 2 years.

Only 1 student from each of 5 countries (Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam) will be accepted.

The relevant documents required to be send include;
  1. Application form and study program
  2. Transcript of scholastic record issued by the university or graduate school attended (no photocopies, written in Japanese or English)
  3. A letter of recommendation from university president or academic advisor (assigned form. Additional recommendation letter would be accepted)
  4. Additional documents (Optional) A copy of documents proving Japanese Proficiency of the applicant, such as JPLT result, certificate of attendance to Japanese higher education facilities and Japanese Training institutions may be considered.
  • The documents submitted shall not be returned under any circumstances.

SELECTION PROCEDURE

     1. 1st Screening
  • The screening will be based on the received documents, such as research activities and study plans, university transcript and the letter of recommendation.
    2. 2nd screening
       The screening for the successful applicants will be based on the following documents.
  • Necessary document required by the Graduate School that the applicant wishing to enroll.-TOEFL Score, etc. (Refer appendix ?)
  • Certificate of Graduation (or Graduation Letter) or Student Registration Certificate

  • Early March, 2012.

    2nd Screening (May – July, 2012)

Every year, we offer a number of scholarships to support students in achieving their personal goals and ambitions.
Malaysian students planning to pursue full-time undergraduate studies (1st degree course) tenable at recognised universities in Malaysia or Overseas are eligible to apply.
Applications for the Shell Malaysia Scholarships 2012 are now open.
Disabled students are encouraged to apply.

ELIGIBILITY
  • Strong leadership skills and active participation in extracurricular activities such as societies and clubs, sports, etc.
  • Not presently holding other scholarship/loans.
  • Disabled Identification Card certified by Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat (where applicable)
  • Consistently strong academic achievements as follows:
    For Undergraduate studies
